Rant!

So I sent out my application for my Cosmetology license about two weeks after we got here hoping it would have been here a month ago. They make it pretty difficult compared to the other states that I have my certification in. I had to mail them my transcripts from high school and my cosmetology schooling, a letter from my previous employer saying that I have had more then a years experiencing and a extensive form telling them everything about my life and my work experience. After all of that, I was expecting to be accepted and be sent my new license in the mail. Well...that my friends is not how it works out here. I had called when when I finally received a pan-flit in the mail telling me when my exam date is. I was a little confused because I wasn't expecting to have to take a exam. I must not have read it right on the website because when I talked to the lady, she explained that every single person trying to transfer their license has to take the test. AHHH!!! Now.... I am totally nervous, and don't even want to get my license out here anymore because I don't want to fail.
I am the absolute worst person when it comes to tests! I could study so hard and know all the material but when the paper comes in front of me I don't remember any of it. Now your probably thinking, wow, this girl is nervous about a little "hair" test, it cant be that hard. Well... You have to know all the diseases and disorders of the hair, skin and nails ( tons and tons of them (all with long unpronounceable names) ). The bones and muscles of the face, hands and feet. All the sanitation and sterilization requirements, and I could go on and on about what could be on the test. When I was in school there were 20 girls in class with me. 7 did not pass. That's a lot!
I do still have all of my books from school, but yes, you guessed it, they are still in storage. The salons on bases do not require the state your living ins license. So I could use my Ohio's and be able to work there. I called to see if they were hiring, but not at the moment. I'm still going to go in and hand them my resume and keep my fingers crossed.
I took this test almost 9 years ago and feel like I have forgotten a lot of it. I just wish I was a little more confident in the test taking area. Also, if I had my books that would be a plus too. I am now searching for other things to do then hair. The date for the exam is in 4 months and that is just to far away to still not have a job.
Anyways...enough about that...
Today Mike's Battalion has a Change of Command. I was going to go this morning to it because he is marching in it but I decided against it. It would have been a hour there (with traffic) a hour back and then I would have to turn around and go back after he gets off work to go to the BBQ that that LT Colonel is hosting at his house. Mike also said most of the wives do not go to the parade but I would have still liked to see it if we didn't live so far away.. oh well. Tomorrow we have to go to a little get together for the General that is in town. Then this weekend there are 2 wet downs so lots of things going on. I now have to go shopping to find a dress that I can wear tomorrow. My life would be so much simpler if we just had our storage. I have so many things that I could wear but of course I have to go spend money instead. Shopping is just not fun anymore when everything is so expensive.

7 Questions

Gentri Lee's 7 weekly questions. Head over to her space to link up.

Not really to funny, just kinda caught off guard

1. If you were to start your own business, what would it be?
Gosh! That business would go down hill fast! (I'm not good at being the boss) If I were to actually open a business it would probably be a groomers or a pet store.

2. You wake up on the wrong side of the bed, do you embrace your grumpiness or try to fight it?
I totally embrace. I feel bad for my husband sometimes.

 3. What's the very first memory you have?
They are all smashed in my brain. I'm not really sure which ones were first. Maybe my cat having kittens? I might have been 4 or 5?

4. The world is ending, what do you do? Allow yourself to die? Fight? Hide? Etc.
That's scary.  Probably hide. I'm chicken.

5. What is your favorite meal of the day?
LOOOVE breakfast! Could eat it any time day or night!

 6. How do you best learn? Visual? Listening? Hands on?
More hands on. I think it sinks in the noggin better when I have already done it.

  7. What is your favorite joke?
      Knock knock!
      Who's there?
      Dwayne.
      Dwayne who?
      Dwayne the bathtub, I'm drowning.

Ceremony

Last night Mike and I went to the 14th annual Lantern Floating ceremony. This is known as a Japanese tradition for remembrance of loved ones who have passed away and to honor lives that were lost in war. The Toro Nagashi ceremony happens every Memorial Day here in Hawaii. About 40,000 people pack onto the shore of a park to watch over 3,000 handmade lanterns be released.
For me, it I think it would have been a different experience if we would have been closer to where they were releasing the them. We couldn't really see to much of what was going on. There were too many people standing in front of my 5'3 self and also I forgot to bring my good camera to get a better zoom.
I'm glad we went tho. We will probably never see anything like this ever again so it was nice to experience it.

Today, our 96 was cut short to a 72 because Mike has duty. It was really nice to have him home a extra day but 2 extra days would have been even better. Look at me being greedy.

Weekend Fun

Mike and I have had such a interesting weekend so far. Friday night we went out for a couple of drinks with a few friends.  Lots of fun of course. Saturday morning we had made plans to do a hike with another couple. It was a trail that had the "intermediate" level of difficulty so I wasn't to nervous about it. I had read on one of the hiking sites that its trail had a few tricky places. It has 3 different peaks to it. They said the first one was kinda easy and it gets harder as you go on. They also go one to tell you that some of the peaks have a rope to help you get up and to use that and you'd be fine. So getting prepared, we both purchased hiking shoes and he bought me a camel back sense he already had one.
Being ALOT scared of heights, I was really trying to pump myself up not to look like a total woosie pants if anything made me nervous. We started the hike and it felt good. (NOT!) The muscles were burning and the alcohol was sweating out of my pours. It was like a stair climber from hell! We were all panting though so at least I wasn't the only one in bad shape.

Beautiful views from the whole hike. We had to stop a few times just to catch our breath but well worth the light headiness......till we got to the first peak! OMG I though I was going to die!!! It was the tiniest rope I had ever seen. My fat butt should not be hanging on to that and trusting it not to break, let alone it was a vertical rock clime. I AM NOT A ROCK CLIMBER!  I did make it half way up (after a couple minutes of coaching) the first peak. Shaking the whole entire time I was inching my way up. What made it worse is that there were people waiting to go up or back down and I was in there way, so I felt that I was being rushed to hurry up. I told Mike to go on without me, I just couldn't do it. I couldn't feel my toes and my heart beat was in my face. Of course he would never leave me alone so after a few minutes of me trying to get down the half that I already climbed up we made it to a safe place. The other couple went on. I was jealous that they were going to have amazing pictures and I am such a chicken. Mike and I made our way back down the mountain and as we were walking back to the car, the other couple caught up to us and said that the other peaks were absolutely crazy and they turned around not wanting to die also. ("Intermediate" was such a lie)
Thinking about it now I really think I could have done it if there weren't so many people waiting on me. I just needed to take my time and not feel like everyone's eyes were on me, and maybe if they put a different rope to use, and maybe if I took rock climbing lessons, and maybe if I didn't have blisters on the back of my heels from my new hiking shoes....ect...  Who am I kidding... This hike will probably not be done again by me, in less in these 3 years I grow some balls and get over my fear.

Later that night, we made our way to meet some people out for drinks after dinner. Just so happens the bar we were at had another bar below it that was having a jello wrestling tournament. We checked it out, and this was just one of the highlights.   Interesting hu?

Today... We headed to the North Shore to look at a new toy. Mike had been searching Craigslist for 2 ATV's now that he decided not to get a motorcycle. Well... he bought mine, and is in search for his still. We don't have a house, or a garage or any of our belongings but.. yes.. we do have a four wheeler. (this is the right order...right?) Anyways, I know they will be a lot of fun. They will definitely get a lot of use out of them.

After that... we stopped and had a few drinks, walked around the North Shore Marketplace and looked in a few shops. (cute place but very crowded)  I had packed our bathing suits just in case which was a good thing. We changed and headed over to a kayak rental. We went down a river that was so peaceful and beautiful. Turtles the size of a trucks tire. Being our first kayak adventure, I'm a little disappointing that I didn't have a waterproof camera with me. I wish I would have been able to have memories of it. We will definitely be searching Craigslist for this toy too.(kayak)

Our drive home was a little rainy... that just made for a pretty rainbow tho.

Friday Letters

This is my first time linking up for Friday Letters so here it goes.

Dear Family Housing
Please call us soon! I cant stand living in this hotel room any longer. I want to cook dinner again, I want to have my wardrobe back instead of rotating 5 dresses and I want to seep in my own bed. Please, any day now would be great.

Dear Hawaii Board of Cosmetology,
It has been 3 months now sense I sent in my application for my license transfer. I'm tired of my husband telling me to get a job already. Would you please get off  "Hawaii time" and send me it already.

Dear Marine Corps.
Thank you so much for sending us to this beautiful place.  I will be forever grateful to be having this opportunity with my husband.

Dear Bolo
Could you please try to refrain yourself from lunging and mean barking at all of the scooters that drive by. I know they drive by every 5 min and they bother you but every time you do that we get stared at and not in a good way. I will never let you go so you could eat them so just stop already! My arm socket would greatly appreciate it.  Also, could you try to stop yourself from looking so cute all the time... I'm tired of talking about it. (lip is stuck)

Dear Sheba
Please try to stay healthy. I don't want to let you go yet. And try to not give me such a hard time when I am shoving pills down your throat. I just want you to get better.

Dear Family
   I miss you guys!

Dear Mike
Thank you for everything. Your such a good hubby! Also, sorry I made your haircut so high and tight this week, I got a little carried away. Next week it will be better. :)
