Cuddle Time

Sheba is NOT a cuddlier. I will hold her in what I think is a "comfortable" position and she starts to breath loudly so I know she wants to get down. Today was different. She fell asleep for about a hour while I caught up with Big Brother.  I love when she is so lovey like this, even though I know shes only doing this because she is tired.
My Helen Keller dog is hanging in though with her health. I have taken her off of all her meds because they were making her sick. I would rather her feel good in her old age then then her tummy hurting (the runs), sleeping ALL OF THE TIME and not wanting to eat. Recently, she grab a bone to chew on for 2 min which she hasn't done in forever.
I'm so glad she is still with us. I cant imagine my home without her. She has stayed so strong moving to 5 different houses in 3 different states within 1 year.

Koko Head...kicked my butt!!!

Today, a friend and I had a genius idea to do the Koko Head Hike. What were we thinking? Lets just say I was dying...but I made it!

Crazies People do this hike on a regular basis. Running up and down for exercise.

~1048 Steps
~Elevation 1,200 feet

Half way up,a lady asked me if I wanted my picture taken.
I was trying not to show the pain on my face.

 Last step! Thank Goodness!!!!

On the way down

I'm glad I finished it. I really wanted to quit half way up but somehow kept going. I don't think I will be doing this hike again any time soon.

Best Cordon Bleu

Whenever Mike asks whats for dinner and I say Cordon Bleu he always says...Yesss! This recipe is a few different ones put together. I leave some stuff out from one and add other things to another. We really enjoy it and I know there will be no leftovers.  Its not healthy...but that doesn't matter!

Now... I am not the type of chef cook that measures everything so I am going to try my best to explain.

  • 4 chicken breasts pounded out thin
  • 4 slices of ham- I use Black forest or Bavarian (I find that it gives more flavor)
  • 4 slices of cheese- I use Baby Swiss or Provolone
  • One pack of Rits Crackers.
  • 1 tbls Dijon Mustard (or a little more if you like the taste)
  • Splash of Milk
  • 1 Egg
  • Sprinkle of Garlic Salt
  • Sprinkle of Onion Powder
  • Sprinkle of Pepper
  • Toothpicks
Preheat oven to 350 degree
Clean and pound your chicken breasts
Mix Egg, Milk, and Mustard
Dip chicken into egg wash (if you have time, let marinate for 20 min in the fridge)
Crush the Rits into "bread crumb" like crumbs
Sprinkle all of the seasonings onto the chicken- both sides
Lay flat and top with ham then cheese
Roll up and secure with a toothpick
Place in Breadcrumbs and press down gently till the chicken is coated
Bake for about 20-30 min
*sometimes a little longer depending on the thickness of your chicken

Its sooo good and easy!
Try it!

Bolo's First Swim- Fail

Bolo went for his first swim today. He didn't really do to good with it. I was expecting him to be a little apprehensive at first about it but get over it because I was in the water with him. That wasn't the case. He was more busy trying to catch the sea shells and foam then anything else. I would pull him out a little ways and he would panic and dogie paddle as fast as he could back to shore. I'm not going to give up on him though. He is going to be living here for a few years so he needs to get use to it.

Manoa Falls

Absolutely hands down the most beautiful "nature" hike I have been on yet. So lush and tropical!
It was pretty much down pouring the whole time we were walking back from the falls, but that's to expected.

We will definitely be doing this hike again!

First Game of the Season

Mikes first game of football season was tonight. Even though they lost 8 to 10 it still was fun to watch.  I'm sure he never thought he would be back on a field again once he graduated from college so it was a nice surprise when his battalion said they were putting a team together.
When he played college ball, he fractured his ring finger and never had it fixed so now it looks a (lot) little disfigured. He can not wear a wedding ring due to his knuckle being a size 13 and his the base of his finger a size 9 (I think). We looked into getting him a ring that has a clasp so he wont need to slide it on and off, just undo the clasp and pull it off. Well...in order to have these rings made you first have to buy a solid gold ring, then have it cut in half, then buy a solid gold clasp so that it can be welded onto the ring. Lets just say it was A LOT more then we were planning on spending. So for now my husband will look like  he is single walking around with no ring. He can also not bend or straighten it completely. Holding hands is a little different for us.
What I am trying to get at is that during his last practice he has injured his right ring finger. So now he is walking around with 2 really messed up looking 3rd digits. I asked him why them, why not the longest finger you have( middle)? He had no answer.
So lets just hope this season will not continue at this rate. We don't need any problems over a silly (but awesome) sport.

Labor Day Snorkeling

After getting off work, Mike and I decided to have a quick snorkel before it got dark. I wanted to take Bolo swimming but opted against it because of it being the holiday. There was so many people at the beach and he would have been all over the place going crazy. Hopefully sometime this week he can come and take a dip.
The water wasn't clear because of rough waters so it was really hard to see fish from far away. Still a nice time though.

Nakoa Trail

Mike and I did a little hike this Labor Day weekend. Nakoa Trail was easy, wet and full of bugs... but was good.

When you first arrive to the trail head, they have paper in a mailbox wanting you to sign in. It smelled terrible standing here looking through the wet paper with no pen so we just went on.

Overall good hike. We are glad we brought bug spray and had a shower waiting for us when we got home.
