Beach Day

I had been wanting to take a drive to the North Shore for some time now but hadn't found the right time to do it. Today was finally the day.  I stopped at Sunset Beach and Bonsai and there were some surfers at both.

It was a pretty crappy day raining on and off but people still came out to watch. I missed the Billabong Pipemasters. I was pretty bummed about this...next year for sure!

Winter time brings the big waves which makes for a great show.

I sat and watched for what seemed to be hours. Very peaceful and relaxing.

I came to the conclusion that I need to get my butt out there in the water and learn!

Bolo and I took a quick walk to North Beach after I got home. The rain came soon after.... meaning smelly dog = bath time

Aihualama Trail

I had a hike planned today that was going to give us a good challenge but things changed when there was a little "situation".
Anyways...
We went to Manoa Falls and enjoyed the quick muddy hike up to get to Aihualama Trail.

There are no snakes in Hawaii so I am guessing that this is a hammer head worm?
Check out my last adventure to Manoa Falls for more pictures....

This trail eventually connects to the Nu'uanu Trail that we have already done. After walking and walking and walking some more we decided to turn around because we were hungry and I had to pee. We have already seen the views and it was pretty cloudy so they wouldn't have been that good anyways.
It was a very muddy day!

Bolo Update

So today is the big day for Bolo. I dropped him off early this morning to have some torcher at the vets. I scheduled the appointment for last week but decided to move it to this week because Mike and I could not agree on what he needed done. Of course Mike got his way and he is only going to be having a tooth pulled. I would have liked to neuter him while they were doing the tooth but...you know how that goes.
He was not on his best behavior.
Embarrassing!
Hopefully he wont cause to many problems while he is there.

Friday Letters

smoosh face
Dear Sickness I have had sense Monday,
I refuse to let you take over my weekend! I look like crap, my throat feels like a cat has been using it as a scratching post, my skin hurts, and I now lost my voice but we are definitely going to do something fun coming up soon with or without you. I hate you though and I wish you would leave me alone already!

Dear Unmotivated Katie,
You need to make up your mind already. Either your going to have a ugly Christmas Sweater T-shirt  party or not. There is only 2 more weekends till Christmas so if its gonna happen you better get a move on it.

Dear Megan,
Congratulations!!!! and also I am so excited you booked your tickets!!!

Dear Family,
Please don't have to much fun without me this holiday. I wish I was there.

Dear Christmas Shopping,
Hurry up and be done already!

Tis the Season

Last week Mike and I started on our decorating for the holiday. I have to say this is the earliest I have ever had a tree up ever. Usually, it is 2 or 3 weeks before, not just one day after Thanksgiving...I like it tho!

So the inside is totally done but we are having trouble with the outside. There are so many rules and regulations with what we are allowed to do on base, and in order to hang lights we need to buy gutter clips and of course gutter clips are all sold out everywhere we go. So the outside will still have to wait for now.

Happy Birthday Michael!

Its my hubby's Birthday today. Big Old 28!
I asked him what he wanted to do for the day and shot out a ton of ideas but he wanted to be LAME and stay home to play video games.
Can you believe that?
Boring!
I would have planned it TOTALLY different.
His only request was that I make his aunt's sauce. (That means cooking all day)

I wasn't going to get him anything for his Birthday because he bought a lot of stuff for HIMSELF on Black Friday but...I gave in and let him pick out just one gift from under the tree. Every time the Radio Shack commercial came on for this helicopter he had to comment that he wanted one.
Big Kid!

This toy lasted almost 20 min.
Bolo jumped up while it was in mid air and knocked it into the sink where there was a bowl of water.
Mike then tried to fix it by drying it out with my blow dryer and ended up melting it.
Donzo!

I also made him a little cake.
I'm not sure if Cassata Cake is popular anywhere else in the states but it sure is in Cleveland. Of course it is the HARDEST cake EVER to make!

I had a few issues!...as you can tell

Bolo Update

 IMG_0376.jpg
Loving his duck
We have noticed for the past 2 days that Bolo has been
dripping blood out of his "man" part. It has happened before about 3 months ago lasting 2 or so days but doing a little research on his symptoms, I chalked it up to him being a UN-neutered male (it said its normal sometimes). Well, now that it has happened again (and a little more then last time) I made a Dr. appointment for him to get checked just in case because the other problem it might be is prostate cancer.

Having a blood test, a ultrasound, a urine analysis and a prostate exam the results are that he has a blood clot right next to his bladder. (yes, this vet bill was NOT cheap) He is now on antibiotics and will cross our fingers that the bleeding will stop in a few days. He doesn't seem to be in any pain so that's all that matters but I am sure tired of cleaning up drops of blood all over the floors.
I had also made another appointment a week from today.
I cant believe that it is finally going to happen. 7 Years and it  is now time. He will be getting his dingle berry's taken away, and in that process they also will be pulling a tooth. Poor guy will be all torn up.

Waihee Falls

Mike and I went on a little hike walk called the Waihee Falls. Its a easy gravel road leading up to a beautiful waterfall.

Now, there was another (not as big) waterfall called Hamama Falls along this hike but its a little difficult to find. After retracing our steps back the way we came, we were suppose to turn off the main road onto a muddy not so prominent path near a certain tree. I'm pretty sure we found that tree but it really looked like we could definitely get lost out there. I think it would be smart to do this hike with someone that actually knows were they are going. I really don't want to take the chance of having to call the rescue squad while getting eaten alive by misquotes.

Help Question?

Hi lovely people. I just have a quick question about this here little blog, and who better to ask. So I came across a problem when I went to upload photos. Its telling me that I have run out of space and can no longer upload and in order to continue I will have to pay every month for more file space. I'm just wondering it there is any tricks to get around this or does everyone pay for their blog monthly and this is just a normal thing?

Christmas Story House

In honor of this wonderful holiday that is coming so quickly, I thought I would share with you the time that I toured the home of the best Christmas movie of all time.

Even though the movie says that Ralphie and his family live in Chicago it really was filmed in a small town 30 minutes away from my house in Cleveland called Tremont. 2 years ago around Christmas time my mother and I made the drive down to see it. This home is in the middle of a residential neighbor hood on a somewhat quite road.

It was amazing how many people flocked here during Christmas time. Its open all year too so I'm sure they get people then also. You first come into the living room where there was a lady waiting to tell you absolutely everything there was to know about the filming. (You could really tell she loved her job.) After that you are free to roam through the house. They also only let in a few people at a time which is nice so you can actually see things up close without a swarm of people in front of you.

They did such a good job keeping everything in the home the same set up of the movie after they remodeled it.

Around the block from the house they had a museum and a gift shop with everything you could ever think of that has to do with the movie. From the clothes that they wore to the actress Melinda Dillon who played the Ralphie's mom there to sign autographs. I definitely wish I would have taken more pictures while we were there.
If anyone is ever in the area I definitely recommend stopping by.

Happy Thanksgiving

I love food, and this Thanksgiving was definitely full of it!
I prepared all of the "usual" courses that comes with the holiday. A few things that I have never made before (sweet potato casserole and green bean casserole) but it all turned out pretty well. The only thing I really had a problem with was keeping everything warm with only one oven. Once the turkey and ham were done I just shoved everything back in to try to warm it up again. I don't know how other people do it but for me it was pretty tricky.
I definitely miss my mothers home cooking though. She makes everything taste so much better. This Christmas I am going to try to make more of  her style recipes but it probably still wont be the same.
Thank goodness for her though. When Mike and I moved into our home back in Ohio, she gave me all of these amazing bowls and dishes that I just love. Instead of this meal being prepared in throw away tinfoil containers, I was actually able to have a "nice looking" setup. Thanks mom!

My favorite part of the meal. You just can never have enough sweets.

After the night was over, Mike, myself and one of Mikes friends headed out for Black Friday. I really wasn't feeling up to shopping, which is totally not like me but because I was up at 7:00am cooking ALL day and drank a little throughout the day and night so it just didn't feel as appealing as my bed. It was just hard to keep from yawning every 2 minutes while standing in lines. We went to 3 different places and got lots of unnecessary stuff that we didn't really need. My plan is always to shop for gifts for Christmas and instead we buy everything that we want to keep for our selves. Mike bought things to fill up his toolbox (tools) and a air compressor, which will be pretty handy because the air in my tires just doesn't want to stay in. We also purchased the new Kindle Fire which is pretty sweet and a few other things too. I did end up getting one gift out of the way which is a good feeling to check off the list. Standing in line for 50min just dragged the sleepiness out even more. I was ready to go to bed! 3:30am we were back home.
I was pretty surprised at Oahu's Black Friday. I wasn't expecting the crowds to be the way that they were. For some reason I thought because we live on a island things would be a little more calm, but I should know better. People on this island are just as crazy as everyone on the mainland about sales.
