Queens Bath - Kauai

 Queens Bath is absolutely gorgeous!

It is a huge tide pool that is located behind some beautiful homes. 

The whole hike walk to get there has some amazing views! 

 Along the way there are a couple of smaller waterfalls.

 Winter time the waves get pretty big so it gets dangerous.

 Where fresh water meets salt water.

 Kings Bath is first.

Smaller of course.

 Walk a little bit farther and you finally come to the beautiful Queens Bath.

 We relaxed here for about 20 minutes and took it all in.

 This place was so pretty. 

True paradise!

 I am so glad we made this a stop on our trip.

Kilauea Lighthouse - Kauai

The Kilauea Lighthouse lookout was a beautiful place. 

There is a wildlife refuge down by the actual lighthouse but wasn't open the day we went.

This is a good spot for whale sightings....we didn't see any

 A lot of sea birds call this place home.

 Such a beautiful place.

2nd Day - Kauai

The morning of day two started beautifully.

 We decided to head south towards Waimea Canyon.

Along the way home we took some detours and saw some other amazing places.

This is the island of Niihau.

It is the forbidden island. 

The Robinson family owns the island and you have to be "invited" to visit...or be a volunteer with a set amount of hours to work (months).
A while ago, this island was used for practice bombs by the military. They are still trying to rehab it from the effects of the bombings. You still have to be careful where you step in some areas.

There are about 130 Hawaiian people that still live on this island. No running water, no telephones, no pluming, no stores, no paved roads and horses are the common transportation.  

I was crossing my fingers that I would be able to catch a glimpse of the Hawaii state bird.

The Nene is the worlds rarest goose.

At one time there was approximately only 30 left.

I'm not sure how many now.

I personally only no one person that has seen a Nene. (I don't know that many people that have lived in Hawaii for longer then 4 years though).

 Being the oldest of the main islands...and the garden island with lots of wonderful places to live and lots of food I thought for sure we would see at least one.

 We hung out at this park for a little and waited while we ate lunch.

No such luck.  :(

I was going to skip this beach because the Yelp reviews were not great. 

But I am glad we didn't!

Glass beach is beautiful.

Instead of sand there is sea glass. 

 Its amazing what the ocean does to glass that is garbage.

Once back at the condo, we ate dinner and then decided to take a bike ride. 

 We didn't stop to take to many pictures along the way. We just enjoyed the ride.

Another great day.

Waimea Canyon - Kauai

I just cant narrow the pictures down. 

There are a ton.

Waimea Canyon is known as the Grand Canyon of the Pacific. 

Iv never been to the Grand Canyon so these views were pretty amazing to me. I have heard people that have visited the Grand Canyon don't think that this place is that spectacular.

We started to hike a trail that took us into the canyon but didn't get very far. Emma just wasn't having it.
