Happy Holloween!

Bolo is excited to be a skeleton this year.
Can you tell he loves it.

What the Heck!

So...
this was just going to be a Wordless Wednesday post, but when my husband send me a picture this morning of what our 2 day old carved pumpkins looked when he walked down stairs, I just had to say a few words.
We hadn't put our pumpkins outside yet because of the 80 degree weather everyday, so they have been sitting on a table waiting for the special night.
Disgusting!
WTF happened???
Hawaii is definitely not pumpkin friendly inside or out!
 We just cant win.
Next year we are just going to paint them!

U.S.S Oklahoma

U.S.S Oklahoma Memorial
The ship served mostly in WWI but was capsized during the bombings of Pearl Harbor where it was docked.

U.S.S Missouri

We crossed the bridge onto Ford Island this passed weekend. Ford Island was the Heart of the Japanese attacks that started  WWII.
The U.S.S Missouri (Mighty Mo) wasn't necessarily docked during the bombing, but it was used in the war and 2 other ones after that (Koren War and Desert Storm). It also was anchored in the Tokyo Bay when Japan surrendered. The documents were actually signed by the General upon the U.S.S Missouri.
 Captains Chair
 Sleeping Quarters
 Dentist Chair
 Kitchen
Amazing view from the top of the ship
If you look to the left of the picture...where the black tarp is covering the construction, you can see the U.S.S Arizona Memorial sticking out on either side.
 40,820 Tons!
pretty big ship!

 Awesome tour of history.

Taking My Mind Off Life

I had a not so great day at work yesterday, and when that happens it usually effects me for the next couple of days.
That's one of the things I wish I could change about myself.
So today, instead of doing the usually...laying around all day thinking of things I cant change, I accompanied a friend to the park.

This guy is new to me.
I'm loving his dinosaur feet.
Next, we made a quick stop at Kailua Beach.
Looking more beautiful then ever.
And after all that, Bolo was due for some beach time too.
At least for a couple hours I wasn't dwelling on things.

Holloween Preparation

We took a drive to the Waimanalo Pumpkin Farm the other day to start the preparation of my favorite time of the year.
It doesn't look that crowded in these pictures, but don't let that fool you.
This place was packed!
With only two pumpkin farms on this island, if you didn't want to buy them from a grocery store then this was one out of the two spots to go.
 They are making bank!

This happened to me last year too.
I guess I just have a little A.D.D in me. I can never just sit and finish all of the cupcakes.
We are the lone house on the street so far with decorations.
We haven't carved our pumpkins yet just because of the weather here. The pumpkins shrivel down to a mess because it is so hot here, so we are going to wait till it gets closer to the day.
Also, I have been slaking on Mike and my costumes. Bolo is ready but I am having trouble getting our stuff together because I'm not sure if we are going to make it out to celebrate this year. The actual Hollow night Mike has work in the morning, and Saturday is our ball, so Friday night is the only day that we are counting on...and with Mike getting home so late/ tired from work I'm just not sure its going to happen this year.

Half Way!!!

 I am now 20 weeks!
140 days down. 140ish days left to go.
I cant believe it!
This pregnancy has been amazing so far.
I am so thankful how easy it has been. I never thought I would have been one of the lucky ones when it came to pregnancy. I thought for sure I would have been living next to the toilet for all of these weeks. This baby is probably just fooling us. We are anticipating her being a wild child once she is here.
I still don't feel like I look pregnant....just chubby!
aand...lookin like a scrub after a long day. *sorry
We are starting to clear out what used to be the office. It is know where close to even looking like a baby's room yet, but its getting there.
Also her name is being thought of. We have one in mind but nothing is for sure yet.
Geez, it is hard to name a child!
I have another Dr. appointment coming at the end of the month, so I am looking forward to that.
Other then all that...I'm now feeling her moving throughout the day. So amazing!

Upper Makua Cave...sort of

Lower Makua Cave was pretty cool, so we wanted to find the upper one too.
 And....went the wrong direction.
Still the same views as if we were in the cave, so I'm pretty content with saying Iv seen it.

Lava Tube

This post is going to have A LOT of pictures of just lava rock....sorry. I couldn't narrow them down because this place was so cool!
This is the only all the way through cave on Oahu.

Life as of Latley

Enjoying the fall weather at Kailua Beach
Kailua is such a beautiful town. Living on Oahu for two years now, I have noticed how busy this little beach community has become. Tour busses galore! I just hope it doesn't turn out like Waikiki. It almost seems like it it heading that direction...lets just hope the hotels don't start popping up everywhere.
Gotta represent The Real Housewives of New Jersey.
I saw this at Whole Foods and had to give it a try. I'm not sure if its just in my head, but it definitely has a different taste then real clear water.
It has finally happened. I have a mom family car now.
I have never owned a 4 door vehicle before.
Mike knew of a guy that was looking to buy a car and jumped on the opportunity to sell the Gold Member when he was actually interested in it. Searching for a used car with low miles, 4x4, clean and that wasn't 2X  more then the price it should be is hard to do in Hawaii...but the hubby found one.
You better believe... I am still going to pimp it out a little tho.
De"mom" it a tiny bit

Electric Beach was all to ourselves.
It's usually a little cloudy at the shore break, but swimming further out the visibility becomes better.
Not today!
The water was actually murky... and murky water = Jaws!...in my mind
Lets just say we didn't stay too long.

We have Movement!

At 18 weeks and 5 days, I think I have felt our daughter for the first time.
I thought I had felt her just a couple days ago, but wasn't really sure...but as of last night, I am %100 positive I have movement in my belly.
 Such a amazing feeling!

Aiea Loop Trail

We headed into Aiea to do a trail off of the Loop Trail called Kalauao.
Its a small 30ft waterfall.
Before we left, I did a little research and found that the best time to see this waterfall is in the winter after a rain fall...hoping that it had rained recently, we were off.
 Rainbow Trees
This steep part is where you turn off the Aiea Trail and head to the waterfall.
We got all the way down and decided that we would be hiking to a stream that had no water flow. It was pretty dry that day. We made our way back up and continued walking the Aiea Loop.
 Great views of the H3
This freeway is one of the most expensive EVER built in America. It totaled $1.3 billion once it was finished...estimated $80 million per mile.
I was kind of surprised how long this hike really was. 5 miles with only a couple nice views. Your in the jungle for most of it, so it gets kind of repetitive. Still a nice hike for the family...and puppy's!

Keaiwa Heiau is located in the same park as the trail.
This sacred area was used to grow plants for medicines.
It is known for its healing energy.
