Christmas Crazyness

I hope everyone had such a good holiday. We sure did. Yesterday we visited with Mikes aunt and uncle. Pasta and chicken cutlets were on the menu. YUM! Today we ventured to downtown Cleveland. Mike has never eaten at the Great Lakes Brewing Company to that is were we set the Garmen to go. Not really knowing the area the parking was kinda hard. We ended up parking a little ways away. 22 degrees out was not fun to walk in when you don't really know where your going. We arrived to find out there was a 2 hour wait. I guess with it being holiday season everyone is still in from out of town. We decided to make our way to the bar and try to wait it out. We ended up grabbing a chair at the bar and half way through our 1st drink the manager came over and asked if we wanted to be seated. With wide eyes we said yes. Mike was drinking his usually Christmas Ale, and I tried the Wright Pils. I'm not one to branch out from my Bud Light but I could manage. Being 5.3% alcohol after 2 the taste started to grow on me so I just drank more. We ordered pub bits for an appetizer that were to die for. Like fish n chips but better. Mike had the pulled pork while I ordered a burger. With the restaurant being as busy at it was of coarse the food took longer then the norm, but it was worth i the wait.
After too many drinks and a full stomach, we decided to make a quick stop at Tower City. It was kind of disappointing. Its not how it was when I was a little kid. No good stores at all, and after 15 min we left.
Mike is passed out now and I am sitting here surrounded  by tails and floppy ears.

There's No Place like Home

The trip home was a long one. Supposedly 12 hour car ride of course turned into 14 but it could have been worse if the weather would have been bad. Leaving Topsail the dashboard thermometer read 72 degrees, now that we are in Ohio its a 40 degree difference. Bolo had his happy pills that made the car ride much more tolerable for my ears. It was actually kind of relaxing for the fist time with both Bolo and Mike not trying be louder then one another. We left around noon. I had everything ready to go, so when Mike got home from work we could just hit the road and it sure feels good to be back.
We spent Christmas Eve with Mikes family. The tree was beautiful and the food was amazing. I never really had a "big family kinda holiday" so its nice that everyone gets together under one roof to celebrate. Christmas day was very nice too. Dad had to work so we waited for him to get off for the feast to begin. My mother worked very hard to make that delicious meal and you could definitely tell.
One of the must while we are home is to stock up on Christmas Ale. We went to the store thinking that we were only able to purchase 1 six pack per person because that's how it was last year but it wasn't the case.  We ended up with 3 cases but already drank one so back to the store it is for more. Mike looks forward to it all year long so he needs to get his fix.
Today my mother and I ventured out to accomplish the list of things we needed to do before she goes back to work tomorrow.  We left Mike at home which ended up being the best thing for him. I think he probably would have been miserable the whole time with all the different places we went. Mike and I are headed to the Browns vs. Steelers game on Sunday and because all of our clothes are in Hawaii now, we have no gear to wear to the game. You would think because the Browns aren't really doing fantastic there would be a lot of things to choose from at the stores. That was a wrong assumption. We went all over town trying to find cheap sweatshirts, hats and gloves.  Picking up the gloves at one store and the hats at another we finally had our outfits and being warn out, my mother and I decided to go grocery shopping and then head home.  We didn't even accomplish half of what was on the list to do but we were beat.
Later that nigh Mike and I decided to go out and have a few drinks. It was nice to be out on a Monday night and actually be relaxed about not having to wake up early. It was .35 cent wing night at the bar so Mike decided to order a few, and because I don't eat wings, I thought the jalapeno poppers were a good choice. They are supposedly home made which I thought was a good sign. Taking my fist bit I was caught by surprise how hot they were. The tears started and the numbness kicked in. Usually I like spicy things and I have had them before and they weren't that bad. Boy, that was a bad choice on the menu.
Tomorrow we have a few errons to run, but mostly we will probably just hang around the house with the pups.  Its so nice to be home!

Road Trip Preparation

My pups and I spent the day getting prepared for our road trip home. Running a few errands in the morning and then coming home to tell Bolo that he needs a B-A-T-H! He looks at me with those crooked eyes like he knows what I am saying. Hes a good boy with it tho. Sheba barked the whole time Bolo was in his bath. Its like she didn't know where we were. I told Bolo to stay while I went over to her to make her stop. Lets just say there was a soapy dog was standing on the tile when I got back, and she still didn't stop the barking.

This picture was a accident but I thought it was kinda cute.

Finally, Shebas turn and she always handles it well. Usually she just sits down because shes tired of standing.  She needed the bath the most. With all her allergies she has she gets so itchy that I'm sure she is feeling much better now.  It would sure be a lot easier if I had a hose that was off of the shower head. Turning on the shower to rinse them off gives me a bath too. I though baths were suppose to be relaxing? They also had their ears cleaned and toenails trimmed. Very good puppy's!
I decided to make some deserts for out trip home. I really wont be-able to make anything when we get there because we are going to be arriving so late and the next morning is Christmas Eve with Mikes family. I saw cookies that I wanted to try on my favorite website (pintrest) so I decided to make those and the Raspberry Cheesecake Bits that I had made before. They were such a big hit that I at least know that they are going to be good. So I had written down the recipe for these cookies awhile ago and never fails, I lost it. So I looked up online Pin Wheel Cookies. There was a recipe that I found but it just wasn't the same one.  Not thinking it was to different I decided to make it. Everything went  fine so I put it in the fridge to chill overnight. Searching through some papers a little bit later of course, I can across the recipe from pintrest, and boy did it look a lot different. So i decided to make both recipes and see which was better. I had trouble getting the sprinkles to stick to the outside of the cookie log. So I didn't put them on. The pictures you see that inspires you always look so much better!
These are the ugly version of the picture recipe.  And once again I don't like how they taste. I think I am going to see if Mike wants to bring any to class tomorrow because the guys will eat anything. Other then that I just might pitch them. Its almost like they aren't sweet enough.  To bad I made 4 batches of them!
Tonight I help Mike study for his test. I just hope he does well so he doesn't have to to think about it on his vacation. Tomorrow is just the basic stuff that I need to do to get ready to go. Clean, laundry, pack. I have a long list of things that I cant forget. I just wish we would have not gone grocery shopping this past weekend. We bought way to much stuff that now we will have to pack with us.
I'm so excited!

A Little Willmington Fun

Last night we headed to Willmington to have dinner with another couple. We decided to try this pub because it was right by the only parking spot open that we could find. Mikes friend said that he read about it also and it got good reviews. It ended up definitely being my kinda place! It had such a big bar, nice people and strong drinks. We all really liked the food that we ordered too. After dinner we sat and talked while waiting for a group of the guys to meet us there. Talking about random stuff we got on the subject of Tv shows that are weirdly popular. Hoarders, Extreme Couponing, Storage Wars and American Pickers. Continuing on with laughing, talking and drinking and out of know where in walks Frank from American Pickers. It was just the strangest thing. He sat down at the bar and had his beer talking to everyone that wanted a hand shake. I contemplated walking over to take a picture with him but I just hadn't had enough alcohol yet. Soon after,  he left and we continued with our night.
This morning we just hung around the house. Mike has a extremely important test on Wednesday that is super hard so hes been making his note cards and burring his head in the books. The guys just came for a hair cuts but this time they were silent. Studying is all they cared about, and now Mike is sitting next to me swearing at the computer because we now have a virus that has taken it over. As I write this post on my phone I wonder how we ever survived without the internet on cell phones. Technology has sure come a long way.  6 more days till we are on our way home. I CANT WAIT!

Beautiful Day

I cant believe it is December 15!  The thermometer said 75degrees today. Short sleeved shirts and ca-pries for me. Bolo and I went to the beach. My plan was to walk to the pier, but someone had to be a jerk. It so cute when he chases the shells each time the tide comes, in-till he does it over and over and the pulling is just to much. Its hard to walk when all he wants is to do is hunt and pounce. So I let him do it for awhile and then decided sense my sneakers were soaking wet, we would go back home.

After we got home I needed to run some errands. Got gas, cvs, and car wash. It was the first time I actually washed my car manually. I usually just go through the automatic one that never really gets it all the way clean. I was so motivated that I vacuumed it also. To bad there is still tons of dog hair that is stuck in the carpet that I feel will never come up.When I got home I washed all the windows and rims. Wiped down the inside and made it smell pretty. I had Bolo and Sheba out there to keep me company.  The next thing I know,  the dog down the street is in our yard. That scared the crap out of me. I grabbed Bolo and Sheba and ran up the stares. I don't want to take any chances.
So I just straitened the house up and prepared chicken strips with marinade. We are having fried chicken tonight but with rits crackers crumble instead of bread crumbs. Very fating! I know. I'm going to hit the sheets pretty early tonight because I have to take one of the ladies to the airport. Her flight is at 7:30am. She lives 45min away from me and the airport is 2 hours away from her. Raleigh has cheaper flights I guess so that's where we have to go. Her husband was going to just drop her off the night before because he had to work in the morning. I wasn't going to let her sleep in the airport. I know I wouldn't want tho do that. So my alarm is set for 3:15am.

Where's the Cheer?

Well its getting close to Christmas and I am not feeling the holiday season at all. Its kind of depressing. No tree, no lights, no pine smell and no snow. The last one I could live without so I wont complain about that. I just feel like their is no cheer here. The only thing that is a consistent reminder that the season is here is the loud singing Mike does in the car to all the Christmas songs. I cant wait to go home. 10 more days! Hopefully it will hit me when I see the family.

Random...

This weekend was pretty random. Friday night we celebrated a wet-down for one of the guys in Mike's class. All of my dishes were a hit at dinner. Everything went very quickly and I didn't have a chance to taste anything.  We ended up at the usual spot, The Brass Pelican. I hate that bar. Definitely a hole in the wall that always has the strangest people in it. The nice thing about it tho is that we live the closest to it so we don't have to go very far when everyone else has to drive a bit. Every weekend there is always at least 1 person that sleeps over that couldn't drive home.
Saturday was once again nice and relaxing. I made a big breakfast for Mike and one of his friends that had slept over. We took a nap in the middle of the day (which I love) while Chicken Noodle Soup was on the stove simmering away. Its not like my mothers but I tried.  I also received an e-mail from someone that responded from a Craigslist add I put up a wile ago. It was for if someone need a dog walker. haha. So hopefully this little extra money will work out. We will see.
Sunday we headed out for some Christmas shopping at the PX. I feel like I am getting the hang of the base a little better. Mike wanted to get all of his family something to do with the USMC. We settled on glasses. Shot /wine/ beer glasses/coffee mugs. It depended on the person which one we thought would be best for them. Santa was at the PX too so that was nice to see all the kids lined up ready to sit on his lap. I was having baby fever bad that day. We stopped by GameStop to return a few things and I ended up getting two new games. Yes, they are kids games but that's what I like. It was hair cut day too so when we got home a few of the guys came over for their weekly trims. I wish there was a bigger bathroom for me to work in. Trying to squeeze behind the chair isn't that easy when each guys has tree stumps as legs. I glad I lost a few pounds.
Today was suppose to be a nothing day. I'm the middle of my game playing I got a phone call from one of the wives. She wanted to see if I would tag along for he husbands promotion. (the one we celebrated) So I hurried and got ready. It was interesting to see how it was done. I know a little now for when its Mikes turn.  I ended up being the photographer for them. I'm just so surprised that my camera didn't act up. The sun was setting which was a nice added touch.  Mike informed me after the ceremony a few more guys needed their hair cut. Yesterday they had scuba diving classes that took too long to they didn't have a chance to come over so  today was the day. I ordered pizza and they played video games.
Tomorrow is the wives turn for their hair cuts. We are meeting at one's house at 9:30 for breakfast and  after that, I'm getting down to business. I just wish I had someone to cut my hair. I am in dyer need!

Tried of baking!

Tonight we are going to a friends house to celebrate another friends promotion. He had been prior enlisted for 13 years already so he is able to get a promotion as a 1st Lieutenant sooner then everyone else. All the wives are going to bring a dish. I had in mind that I was going to bring a few things that you could just eat with your hands. Two of the lady's are making chili so that's pretty much the main course. And yes, I got all of these ideas off Pintrest's website. Pizza Roll-Ups, Pigs in a Blanket, Raspberry Cheesecake Bits, and a Cake Batter Truffle.  The cheesecake bites turned out OK, of course not as pretty as the picture that I saw that made me want to make them, but they were still good. On the other hand, the Truffles are weird. It tastes like raw cookie dough, witch is probably what they are suppose to taste like but its just to much. So now I don't think I'm bringing them. I went to the store again today for more ingredient for a cookie that Mike really wanted me to make. It was like a Girl Scout Samoas. And never fails they didn't have any caramel chew candy's so I bought butterscotch instead. It just all went down hill from there. I ended up throwing it all away because it just wasn't right AT ALL! I had a little left over coconut, so I wiped up a batch of macaroons. Now I'm not feeling 100% about them either. So when Mike gets home we will see what he says and if its a eww no, then too bad I'm done in the kitchen! I have all the other dishes just ready to pop into the oven so I'm good to go. Lets just hope I dont burn them.
The couples house that we are going to tonight is right behind the bar that we go to pretty much every weekend.  So I already told Mike we are not going to get out of hand tonight and drink to much. I want to actually do something tomorrow instead of laying in bed all day.

Ummm?

Today I found a tick on Bolo. Now I'm paranoid! It was a really small one that wasn't even in his skin yet but now I know that they are around, so now I have to check him when we get home from our walks.  Yesterday I coordinated some of the ladies to get together for lunch today. We met at the coffee house in town and spent 4 hours there talking and laughing. Hopefully it will become a regular thing for us because I am getting tired of just talking to the dogs while Mikes at work. I'm waiting on Mike to get home now. He will probably have a bunch of stories about the bombs he blew up today. He gets so excited when he tells me about them. I just look at him, and smile. I'm making fish tonight. Mikes not happy about it, but to bad!

Birthday Recap

Tiramisu- I put to much coco powder on top. It was suppose to be just a dusting. I got a little carried away. Mike ate a piece and he coughed because he inhaled it.  I also know that strawberry do not usually go with tiramisu but I thought it might look a little dull. I bought a bigger pan that I was going to use but I didn't buy enough lady fingers for that pan so I had to end up using a bread/meatloaf pan. Oh well. I know for next time.

Mike was craving Italian so we went to a really cute Italian Restaurant called Max's. They sat us by the window which was really nice because you can see out by the bay. Even-tho this town is pretty much deserted in the winter they still do a really nice job decorating for Christmas. The lights light up the water and it is so pretty! After that we headed to a local hole in the wall bar. They know our names which isn't a good sign. A few of the guys showed up that are in his class. Wives too, so it  was nice to have some female bonding. The had a good band also. All around good night! Now we wasted this beautiful day away today because of headaches.

I just looked over at Bolo and he is looking at me laying like this. He is such a weirdo!

*Michaels Birthday*

Today's my hubby's 27th birthday! I'm going to try to make a him his favorite... Tiramisu. The recipe looks a little difficult. I'm kind of nervous about it!  We are also going to go out to dinner and probably drinks after. OK.. wish me luck.

December is here!!!

Even-tho its just the beginning of December I'm getting excited to have a visit back home. 22 more days and we will be on our way home to the snow probably. ugg... I cant wait to see my family and have my mothers cooking. I miss Toby sooo much too! ( doggie) Mike hasn't seen his family sense January so its going to be a good reunion.
I spent the day on base trying to find the office that will help us move to Hawaii. The building that they usually were in was being remodeled so they set up a trailer that was so hard to find. I must have driven around the block 50 times before I saw it. It wasn't even on the road that the internet said it was on. When I arrived the people there were surprisingly nice. I was shocked. It ended up being the wrong office I needed to be at for the questions I had. I guess Ill make another trip out there next week to get it straitened out.
Bolo and I took a quick run on the beach today. Its nice because all of the fishermen are gone so you can actually walk down by the water without dodging polls. It was amazing how many pelicans were out today. They were having a feeding frenzy too. Seeing them dive into the water from 10 feet up was a pretty cool sight to see. I could have watched them for hours. I never seem to have my camera at the right times. I would never think to run with it but that's when I need it the most. I was gonna buy Bolo a nap-sac so he can hold it for me. :)
I tried a new recipe from my new favorite site. Pinterest. They have so many great ideas. This is a chicken lasagna roll-up. There's a few things different that I would do next time but it was still good. It didn't look like the picture I saw but I tried. This is my version.
Mikes birthday is tomorrow. Hes going to be pretty old! 27.... I cant believe it tho... I feel like we just graduated high school. I made him cupcakes so he can bring them in for the guys. Hopefully they make it in to his class in one piece.

Interview

I had a interview for a job today. She liked me a lot and wants me to start right away. If only I was excited about it. It is mandatory for everyone to work the holidays so I wont be able to go home and see mine or Mikes family if I take the job. And sense we are leaving in March for Hawaii this would be the last time Mike would have time to take off to actually go home for the next 3 years. Ugg... I guess this just isn't the right job for me. I need a glass of wine.

Lazy Dayz

Today was the end to a good long weekend. We just relaxed and did things around the house for most of the day. Mike waxed his girlfriend while the pups and I watched. (that didn't sound right)  We also made it a point to go see the sun set because yesterday when we were driving home it was absolutely beautiful. Tonight didn't even compare but it was still pretty.

Black Friday Craziness

I woke up early this morning to an alarm clock that I hate. Mike puts the most annoying ring tone on that he has and blares it with the highest volume there is. I have to hear it every morning around 4:30 and not just hear it once, he likes to snooze 4 or 5 times. But waking up this morning was a little different. I begged him just another hour as it felt like I had just turned over to close my eyes. But he insisted so 12:15am it was. We got ready to head out to what I thought was going to be a big wast of time. In the car at 1:00am to go shopping just didn't seem right. We did see some good luck tho. Now I comment every night on our walks with the dogs how beautiful the stars are and this night was especially special. We saw a shooting star clear as day as we drove down the road. I feel like I have seen them before but Mike brought up a good point. He says that he has always thought he saw one but he was never quite sure and it was a good thing that I saw it too, to confirm that he wasn't just seeing things. This must have meant there was some good deals on the way. It was also quite funny diving past all the bars with lots of cars still parked in the lot.
We searched high and low for a newspaper Thanksgiving Day. We must have went to 7 different places and every one was sold out, so going into Black Friday we felt a little blind. Getting to our first shop I was surprised how many cars were parked out front. Being in a town that most of the residents have a few days off (96'is)  I would think they would go home to see their family's, but I was wrong. Walmart was packed! I was skeptical about going in just because there was nothing I really needed there. All the other stores that I had planed to buy things weren't open yet so we were just going to wast some time. We dodged all the carts that people couldn't see over and made our way to the electronics with the rest of the crowd.
I saw what I wanted to buy my mother so I put that into the cart and was happy I could mark one off my list. The a woman over the PA announced that they has Wii's for $99.00, Mikes eyes got wide and went off to take a look. Coming back with the box in hand and a smile on his face and as he placed his new toy in the cart he noticed a "36 inch TV with a price tag that makes him look around to find someone wearing a blue shirt and a smiley faced button. Now we were one of those people that had a TV in the cart with a bunch of other electronics headed to the checkout.
A few stores down he noticed that GameStop was open, and sense we just bought a new gaming system it only seemed right to go inside. After purchasing a few games and accessories, we were on our way to Bed Bath and Beyond. Not really knowing what I wanted, I came across Satin bed sheets that I had been wanting for along time, so they went right into the cart. Having a 20% coupon and also a gift-card made those expense sheets irresistible.
Pets-Mart was our next stop. Just thinking I was going to be buying my furry children their Christmas presents, but we came across much more. We had been needing a new crate for Bolo sense there was a crack in his other one. Looking on-line at large crates, they run around $120. Boy did we get lucky! $35.00! I still cannot believe it. Traveling to Hawaii, we will need to modify this crate a little but its no big deal. We also purchased their water bowls an wee pads.(wee pads are mandatory on flights) Of course I didn't forget to pick up a few toys and bones for under the tree.
It was finally 4:00am and Dicks was open. Mike had been looking forward to this stop because he needed new cleats for his touch football games. After we waited 15 min to have someone come over to ask what size shoe he needed, only to find out that 11's are the most popular size and they are out of  pretty much every shoe they carry except for 3. The 3 shoes were cleats that were pink, yellow and orange. If you know Mike at all you know that he does not wear any type of color. Black, white, and grey are the only colors in his wardrobe, so that was not going to work. Looking around some more there wasn't much on sale that we wanted, plus the line was half way down the store so we chalked it up and left.
Office Max was next on the list. I had a gift card there but ended up not having any money on it. I had checked at Walmart the gifts that I wanted to get my sister and dad and was waiting to see how much they were here. It ended up the Walmart had a better deal so we were off again to have a second round.
We quickly when through Walmart, dashing the people again and gathering up what we needed and called it a night/morning.  Getting home around 7:00am. Taking all our new goodies up the stairs. Mike of course wanted to play with the toys so I left him setting it up while I crawled in bed.
Waking up at 12:30pm to start our day after our outing was a little different but I think it was all worth it. I look at the people that do this every year in a different way now. Don't get me wrong, I will never camp out in a tent in front of a store but it sure is nice to have more then half your Christmas shopping done so early. We had a great time!

Happy Turkey Day

Happy Thanksgiving! Its been a very enjoyable day today just being able to relax. I'm sad that we were not able to spend the day with our families but I tried to make it as close to it as possible to what we know. I cooked my first turkey ever and it actually turned out good.  We went shopping yesterday with all of Eastern North Carolina. Its amazing how people have no clue that your trying to move around them with your big cart saying excuse me and pardon me and there is no slight care what so ever to move over so you can get by. I feel like I'm so considerate of everyone else and I never receive it back at the grocery store. Oh well I guess, its probably never going to change. Anyways...
I spent a good amount of the day checking on the turkey while it was cooking. I was getting a little nervous because it was starting to look kinda dark on the top and not anywhere else so I was constantly opened and closed the door. I finally left it alone and it ended up evening out. There was no major catastrophes which I was surprised about. It still didn't even come close to my mothers cooking but I wasn't expecting it to.

So we are headed to bed early tonight to wake up extra early to get to all the Black Friday sales. Its our first year doing it with all the crazy people so we will see how it goes. I think everyone should do this once in their life. So 12 Am. It is.

Close call

Yesterday was a little stressful of a day. We woke up in the morning to a extremely sick dog that I thought really wasn't going to make it. Sheba (around 14 years old) woke up not herself at all. She couldn't walk hardly at all and when she actually did she would fall after a step or two. Mike had this very important brief that he had to give Monday afternoon that he had been working on all weekend so he was really stressed about that and this was the cherry on top. Sheba was throwing up and everywhere and peeing on herself so it was time to take her in to see the Doctors. There were a lot of tears all morning so Mike decided to come with me to see the Dr.  Because it was a Sunday we could only go to the Emergency Clinic and that was in Wilmington an hour and a half away. Boy was that a long car ride. I thought for sure this was the end of the road for her. We got there and she still wasn't looking good. We waited for the Doc to come in a look at her and tell us the bad news. She finally came in and saw what was happening and decided she wanted to do blood work and give her something for her nausea.  It ended up the Doctor thinks that Sheba had a seizure and we were seeing the after effects of it. After she had giving the nausea shot she got much better. Not being able to walk was the result of being dizzy. The Dr. said all of her blood work was excellent and that was very rare in a dog in her mature state.  I cant believe how lucky we are to still have our baby. Let just say I have a few extra grey hairs from that day.  I'm thankful for the vet clinic, they were the best I had have ever been to. I felt that they new exactly what they were doing and very friendly. All tho the Dr. doesn't know what caused the seizure (if that even what it was) or if she will have them from now on she is doing much better today. Thank goodness for the outcome and now she is sick and tired of all the extra kisses that she has been getting.
Mike said his brief went really well today.  I know he was a little nervous about it so I'm glad its over. I feel like I hadn't seen him sense Friday because he had been working on it so hard.  He will know his grade on it after the holiday.
I'm going grocery shopping for Thanksgiving tomorrow. Hopefully the lines wont be to long. I have a feeling its going to be bad.

Glad its Friday

It's been such a long week. Its the first day that I feel like winter has followed me. We turned on the heat last night which was very depressing. The weather man said that it is just a cold spell and that it will warm back up so hopefully hes right.
Bolo woke me up bright and early today. The people down the street let there dog out and it was barking like crazy so that means he wanted to bark too. I came to the conclusion that we live on a street with hillbilly's. There are only 3 houses that are actually occupied and of course one of them has to be the trouble makers. Very loud and garbage everywhere. The police are always strolling by so I guess that's a good thing. I feel like such an old lady complaining. They have a pit-bull and they let him out without a leash so I'm always scared to walk by the house with Bolo. There would definitely be a fight. I keep hoping that they are going to be leaving soon because they are in a rental house like us but it hasn't happened. Oh well.
I made pumpkin rolls yesterday, they didn't turn out the way I had hoped.  I haven't tasted them yet so hopefully their not bad but they didn't want to roll easily so I don't know how pretty they are gonna be. I was going to have Mike take them to class with him for the guys but I changed my mind. Their going to be for desert for Thanksgiving. The leftovers Ill send with him to class.
Well this weekend Mike has to run the Turkey Trot, 5 miles. He is not to thrilled about it. He signed up for it and paid his money because the thought it was mandatory.  He found out yesterday that it wasn't mandatory and now he doesn't want to do it. I guess we'll see how it goes when he wakes up. He also has a group project due Monday, so he will probably have to get together with some of the guys and work on that.
The puppy's had a bath today. It was needed. It was definitely difficult not having a shower head with a hose. I tried the whole filling up the cup thing but that was taking way to long. Bolo let me turn on the shower and he rinsed off that way.
Well I'm pretty sure this weekend wont be that interesting, I just hope the weather turns for the good. We are gonna talk out mid day walk now with my coat on.  :(

Our 96

Mike had a 96.  I just learned this. :) It means 96 hours. (4 days)  I'm learning so many new things... We took advantage of the absolutely beautiful weather this weekend.  We took a walk to the pier, which was about 2 miles one way. We tried to dodge all the jelly fish but it was impossible.
We wanted to go to the Aquarium in Wilmington but we decided against it because it was free to kids for Veterans Day. We would have driven an 1 1/2 hours to be swarmed with screaming children.  So a movie is what we settled on. I wanted to see the "In Time" movie with Justin Timberlake. ( I think that's what its called)  So we made our way to Jacksonville with all the other thousands of people. I recommend, when there is a National Holiday especially for people that are serving our country, do not go into the town that they are living in when they have a 96 also, and try to have lunch or see a movie. We tried 2 different places to eat and we finally felt comfortable with waiting 15 minutes. After lunch we headed towards the theater. Ya, that was never gonna happen. We couldn't even find a place to park. It was 3:30!!! So we drove around a little and then went home.  We took a long walk with the puppy's and called it a night.
OSU played today, so that pretty much took over all of our day. We drove around trying to find a bar that had the BIG 10 Network and no one did. Mike was very disappointing so we ended up just coming back home. One of his friends stopped by that he hadn't seen for awhile so they had a chance to catch up. OSU lost so it been a pretty quite evening now.
I made crispy lemon chicken tonight for dinner. It was so-so. I put to much lemon zest in it so it was definitely lip puckering.
We are planning to see the movie tomorrow so hopefully the outcome will be better then the last one, or I can talk Mike into doing something even better.

Tonight's Dinner

                                             Meatloaf, Garlic Mash-potato's, and Green-beans.
Mikes busy playing the new Call of Duty game so I just thought I would put a picture of what we had for dinner tonight.  I'm going to try to get him to pause the game so we can go for a walk now.  Wish me luck. :)

Looking forward to the weekend!

It Veterans Day on Friday so Mike gets Thursday through Monday off. Hopefully we will be-able to do something fun.  There is a small list of things I would like to do before we leave North Carolina so maybe we can check a few off. There is a fish market in town that I wanna get to before winter. I'm not sure if its open all year round so I need to not procrastinate any longer.  I hope that it will at-least be open at the end of November. My parents are coming to visit and I'm sure this is a spot that my mom wouldn't mind going.
Also I haven't seen a sunrise yet on the beach. I'm up when Mike leave for work but then I always tend to fall back asleep.  Sunrise is usually around 6:00ish, so when Mike doesn't have to work I feel bad waking him up that early when he doesn't have to be up. So if its not raining then we'll probably try to do this too.
It was such a beautiful day today. Bolo and I when for a nice run around our neighborhood.  We made our way down to the ocean and he played in the water a little bit. Lots and lots of dead jellyfish washed up over night. I guess that means winter is coming.  After a little it was time to go.  I wanted to continue my run but he started to be a troublemaker so I decided it was time to go home.  He just loves to grab the leash and play tug-of-war. (so embarrassing) and boy does he tug!
I finally applied to a few places to work yesterday. I haven't heard anything back yet but hopefully soon. Left over meat loaf tonight. I made it yesterday and it was pretty good. Mike was surprised too. He said that I could make it again. :)

*Happy Birthday USMC*

We attended the Marine Corps Ball last night. 236 years in service. It was lots of fun. We got all dresses up and pretty looking. It was at the Hilton in Wilmington which was very nice. The puppy's had to stay home but we had on of Mikes friends that is in a different MOS come and take them out. Nice hotel tho and great room service. I ordered a Caesar Salad that was to die for. I don't no why it was so good. Just lettuces and crouton's. Maybe I was just really hungry.
The ball was really nice. There was about 200 people that were there. Lots of higher enlisted people all the way down to 17 year old's.  We kinda stuck to our own group tho.  After all the speeches were over ( 1 hour later) dinner was served. Mike had the steak and I had chicken. It was also good. It was nice everything was still hot when it came to our table. Serving that many people I was surprised. The cake was so pretty I didn't want them to cut it but it was good also. I wish I would have taken a picture of it first. OK, enough about food.
After dinner the music started. It was interesting because a lot of people left after dinner. Probably more then half the people. It felt like it was empty when you looked around. I came to the conclusion that when you have been to 4 or more of theses balls it starts to become a little old. They probably are all the same. Also it was on a Sunday so a lot of people have to work the next day. I got Mike to dance to 2 whole songs. I was very proud of him. :)  He also was willing to take a few pictures. I had to beg a little but he gave in easy. They had a professional photo studio there which I totally took advantage of. They put us in a few different poses so we could go online a choose the ones we like. I haven't seen them yet but I'm sure Ill buy them all. We stayed about a hour longer, busy taking pictures and socializing. I pretty much met all of the wives and girlfriends of his MOS. All very nice people.
We ended up leaving and planning on going out for a little once we changed our clothes with some of the couples. That didn't happen. The bed looked really comfortable. It was a memory foam mattress which just sucks you in to it. I definitely will save my penny's for that one day.  I'm glad that we didn't go out because we had to be up early to drive back to the doggies.  Also I finally got a good night sleep not having a 80 pound dog laying on top of me. It was great!
Mike left a little while ago for work. He had to be there at noon today instead of five. So I made a big breakfast and he actually got to relax before he had to go.  Me and the pups will probably go for a long walk in a little bit. Sit at the beach maybe and watch the fishermen. There has been a ton of them lately. They stand at the edge of the water with 4 polls each. It must be season for a certain kind of fish or something. Its still been really nice here. Its amazing how different its been from back home. People are still wearing shorts and t-shirts here. Its so funny to see knowing that its almost Thanksgiving.
Well steak fajita's are on the menu tonight. Hopefully they will turn out the way I'm imagining them.

Oh... if you would like to look at the professional photos that we have taken this is the site.

The Baby's

Just another day

It felt like today was a really long day. We just finished dinner. I made this chicken that was marinated in some sort of seasoning that I will never make again. Mike ate it all but gave my portion to the dogs. Im trying to branch out with my cooking. Guess Im not doing a very good job.
The landlords are putting a new roof on the house so that's been fun with all the banging. Bolo is having a field day with every little noise that these guys make. Its so loud even Sheba can hear them.
I saw this nasty roach as i was walking into the outside laundry room so i had to take a picture. They definitely don't have these bugs in Ohio. It was enormous!!! Just as long as they don't come into my house, Ill be OK.
Well hopefully tomorrow will be more exciting. I really need to find a job!

Happy Halloween

Its Halloween day today. My favorite holiday of the year. Tho I didn't have a chance to dress up this year it was still a fun weekend. I saw a lot of really good costumes. We went to Wilmington this past weekend. Very cute area even tho I didn't get to see a lot of it. Just mainly the inside of a bar... but that bar was nice.
I'm searching for a job today. I decided that I am going to get one just because I sit home all day every day why not make some money. I'm having to transfer my license to my new state so its probably going to take a while to get it. Hopefully I can find a job now. I wasn't going to get one because we are only going to be here for such a short period of time but Mike thinks it will be a good idea. Also we had went to the mall yesterday and my favorite store was there so now i have incentive to make some money.
Well hopefully some kids come tonight for trick or treating. Mike bought some candy and I don't want to have to end up eating it all.

My Beginning

As you can tell I'm new to this whole blogging thing. Mike would be laughing his head off telling me I'm a "blogger" now. Ill have to let him know when he gets home from playing his touch football tournament with some of the guys. I know he will think this is funny.
So I moved to North Carolina almost a month ago. Its nice here even tho I haven't met too many people yet. I live on an island about 20 minuets for Camp Lejeune . Its off season here so so there is not much going on. Me and the pups go for our daily walk and I always try to go down to the ocean and take it all in. Bolo always seems to drag me to the water and gets messy with a ton of sand. He is loving it here. Always chasing the foam from the waves and trying to eat the sea shells. He so cute. And Sheba, she pretty much could care less.
So my move from Ohio was pretty smooth. I drug-ed Bolo so he could actually be normal for the car ride. Even tho he made a mess of my car with all his slobber he still did a good job. I'm so happy we were able to rent out our house quickly. Let just see how everything goes with that. I get nervous with other people and my property. I hope the man that is living their will take care of it.  I still cant believe I finally left. I miss it tho. Well not really, just mainly my family.
We are starting the process of the paperwork to move to Hawaii. The housing looks really nice there. We are going to be living on the base because it is so expensive there, but I don't mine. I would want to anyways to help the process of finding new friends. Bolo and Sheba have know idea whats coming next for them. I am a little nervous about flying them. I have been researching a lot the necessary steps to move pets to the island. Boy, there are a lot of requirements. They've been microchiped, blood tested and rabies vaccinated. I found out yesterday that they got the good to go for the trip. Hundreds of dollars later.
So Mike is loving his Combat Engineer Training. Im so glad he got the job he wanted. Im so proud of him. He worked so hard to get were he is today. He deserves everything that he has now. We are going to be atteneding the Marine Ball next week. Im excited to meet all of the great guys that he will be spending these 4 months with. I just need to keep in mind not to drink to much!  :)  I bought a dress online that I thought was so beautiful. I recived it yesterday which was a shock because I thought it wasnt going to come intime. Well I put it on and its pretty and all but its not what i ordered. The back of the dress it totally different then the picture. Its ok tho. Thats what i get for buying online and from China.
Hopefully Mike gets back soon. He doesn't know it yet but I'm going to try to get him to take a trip to Willmington today. I hear its really cute and quaint there. It probably wont happen if OSU is playing so Ill keep my fingers crossed that its a by week.
