See Ya Later

Heading back to the mother land for a lil bit.
We have a lot of catching up to do along with a little bit of fun.
Heading to a place that Mike and I both have never been so that will be exciting to explore.
Stay tuned!

Beach Day + Donkey Balls + Wet Down

Mike and I rarely have a beach day where we actually just lay on the beach.
(hes to antsy for that)
But today it was just that!
A friend told me of a "secret" spot where there are turtles ALL YEAR.
The water is so shallow so its super warm and that's what they like.
So we first went to check it out.
And I of course had to bring my snorkel gear.
(too bad the water was a little cloudy)

These guys are amazing!
I hope this place stays "secret" so they don't get scared away and leave.
Next we made a stop at one of the beaches on base and watched all the kids get beat up by the waves.

Hopefully I got ride of most of my tan lines now. Mike and I have a big trip coming up and it would be nice to look pretty in a dress and not have weird lines going everywhere including sport bra ones...Not cute!

Donkey Balls always looks like a fun place to stop!
(chocolate macadamia nuts)
There are so many flavors to choose from.
 I stood there for awhile.
The Smokey Balls are the ones that will probably be eaten last. They are infused with bacon and taste a little funky.
Lastly... Mike had his wet down to celebrate his promotion. Everyone met at Rumfire in Waikiki and had a amazing time.

Makapu'u Tom Tom Hike

Sorry for overwhelming you with pictures, but I just couldn't narrow it down.
That's how cool this hike is.
I really wanted to do this hike after I had saw that rams live on the ridge. Yes...wild rams!
Amazing views of the Windward side!
I guess interesting people go on this hike also.

Hang gliders galore

 Sea Life Park
 Dolphins
Ka'au Crater
The highest point on this crater is Koko Head.
And....proof that there are goats up here.
We passed by another hiker and asked if he had saw any. He said that last month they actually cut down on their population.
Sad.
Our final destination.
Puka, is known as "hole" in Hawaiian.
You can actually see this hole from the road if you know where to look.

This hike is about 5 miles long, all across the ridge line. Loose gravel and steep cliffs is the terrain of pretty much the whole hike, so when rain clouds started in, we knew it was time to go.
We could have went on to see 2 launch pads for the hang gliders and possible some goats but as we made our way down, the rain started. Let me just say it is way easier to go up then come down. The gravel just did not make it a fun in some places sliding on our butts and praying that we did not make a wrong move.
Leaving you with one of the "riches" places to live on the island.
Hawaii Kai
Driving home with my windshield wipers on full blast we thanked god that we turned around when we did.

Sunday Funday

Im not really sure what we were thinking doing a waterfall hike on a day that it was pouring down rain. Its just asking for trouble. At any time there could be a mud slide here so lets just say it wasn't the smartest thing to do.
Lulumahu Falls is a hike that is owned by the Board of Water so it is off limits....but I just had to see it.
Walking through this bamboo was definitely tricky. Thank goodness for hiking tape that was left by others.
 Mushroom?

This is the point that it got a little iffy for us. We were soaking wet and the rain didn't not show any sign of slowing. We also didn't know how much longer it was to get to the falls and the water was rushing harder.
We decided that maybe it would be better to finish this another day.

After the hike, because we were so close, we decided to stop at King Kamehameha III summer palace. This is where he held all of his luau's.
Finally...this Sunday was wrapped up with the Toby Keith concert.
