Sheba had come along way. She is from a place (so we were told) of a family that had her for about 8 years of her life. Sadly a divorce split them up and neither one of the people wanted to keep her. She some how was given to Mikes mother and she came to live with us about 3 years after that. We have been so blessed to have such a sweet dog. Even though these last few years have been tough. Losing her hearing and sight, ear infections, skin problems, Alzheimer's and arthritis, she has been strong with a fight to live. I truly do think if she wasn't with us, she wouldn't have made it as long as she did.
Sheba has traveled many miles, lived in 6 different homes, in 3 different states and seen 2 oceans in 4 years. She was such a trooper with it all.
These last couple of days I had been looking at her differently. Her fight to live was dwindling and her problems seem to have gotten worse. I felt like I was keeping her for my happiness and not her own. It was the hardest decision I think I have ever had to make.
My home is now a little more empty and my heart has a piece missing from it.
I will never forget this puppy. She will be truly missed.

  2. I'm very sorry for your loss. Dogs are family and I know what it's like to go through this. We had to put our 16 year old family dog to sleep a couple years ago and it was so hard but he no longer had to feel any of the pain that came with his age. Hang in there!

  3. I"m so sorry! There really is something special about the bond between dog and owner...I had a Sheba too, and when she lost her eyesight and hearing she ended up almost drowning in a swimming pool we knew we had to do the right thing by her. I've had to do that with 2 more of my "pups" and its heartbreaking. But how lucky was Sheba that she had you guys as owners!!! People who loved her and wanted her. She'll be waiting in heaven for you where she is now pain free!!! Chin up. xoxox

  6. :( I'm sorry hunny.... It is so hard to lose a family member. But you know that you did the right thing and that she enjoyed her life so much more with all of you. You gave her the opportunity to see more than most ever do and be loved more than she ever was by all of you. I wish you strength and peace knowing this. You other fur baby needs the extra love now too with her not there, love him and let him love you...
