8 Months - advice PLEASE

One of these days I will get this post up on the day that she actually turns her new age.

Emma has been a handful this past month. So many new things have started that it has been hard for me to keep up with her.

~She has been low crawling her heart out. I'm not sure if I'm ready for a full on crawler because its hard to keep up with her now at this pace.

~Still loving all her foods.  Prunes, pears, green beans, peas, and squash seem to still be her favorites....cant forget about oranges too!

~She loves to be sung to. She stares at me mouth open in a daze.

~This next topic I would love some advice on.
My child doesn't no how to do this very well.
Sleeping.
I haven't had a full night sleep in over 8 months.
She has her last meal around 6. We take Bolo for a walk after that, then story time. Ill nurse her and she usually falls asleep in my arms.
She usually wakes up once again as I am putting her down in her crib and has another crying fit for a few minutes... if I'm lucky then dozes off.
But after that I am probably up a good 5-8 times throughout the night.
She nurses, then falls right back to sleep but it just doesn't seem normal for her to be up so many times. I have tried just letting her cry it out and she has now thrown up on herself twice from the screaming. (and that just makes everything worse when I have to change her sheets)  I have tried a noise machine. The longest it can be set for is a hour and it seems the moment it shuts off she is awake again so I don't always like to put it on.
She has also started waking up at around 5. I'm talking wide awake. This is killing me!
I don't know what else to do. If anyone has any ideas I would love to give them a try...or I might go mental.

~She now officially has grown two teeth.  Those things are like knives!

~She is becoming a stubborn little lady. She wants it her way or no way.

~She is in love with Bolo. If he is around she will not take her eyes off of him let alone if he is next to us. That means she is touching, climbing, patting and squealing with excitement.

~Emma is totally and completely done with pacifiers.  She wants nothing to do with the weird rubbery things in her mouth anymore. It seemed like it  happened overnight.

~She has learned how to splash in the bath tub. I'm just just talking splash here and there, I'm talking during the whole bath. Its like she cant control her arms. I am soaking wet and there is water all over the floor.

I feel like I have been slaking on this blog lately.

  1. Oh man, I wish I could give you some good advice, but I'm in the same boat. My son is 5 months old and I'm still waking every few hours.

Both of my daughters were EXCELLENT sleepers, so this is so new to me...and exhausting.

Are you against co-sleeping? I have found that it helps, if you would consider it as an option. A lot of the time, my son just has to feel that I'm next to him and he'll fall right back to sleep. There's a lot of conflicting research about co-sleeping out there, but I have found (through my own research) that co-sleeping now will not make them dependent on sleeping with you forever. They will grow out of it once they become more independent, and at least when you decide you want your child out of your bed they'll be old enough to understand (rather than just a baby wondering "What happened??"

Anyway, I'll be watching your comments for advice too :) lol

    1. I'm definitely not against co-sleeping and would have loved to try it but......I have a 80lbs dog that sleeps in our queen size bed, let alone my husband is all over the place. Emma slept next to our bed for the first 7 month and I just transitioned her into her crib and own room last month. When she was sleeping next to me she still woke up the same amount (it was just easier to nurse and put right back to sleep ). I used to think that she was waking up all the time in our room because there was always noise. My husband snoring, the puppy jumping up or down off the bed, my husband alarm at 4:30 so I was thinking she was old enough to start being in her own room. I guess all of those frequent wake ups have now put her into a routine and I am destine to no sleep.
I hope your situation gets better too!!!!!!

  2. She is PRECIOUS!!! All three of our girls have always slept in bed with me, and so they nurse when they want to and I don't actually have to get up or anything. It's worked really well for me, but I know that doesn't work for everyone. The three month old is up to about 6 hours straight of sleep before she nurses again. Good luck!

    1. You are so lucky!!!!
I wish I could have co-slept with Emma. I have a 80lbs dog that sleeps with us and also a husband that doesn't no his side of the bed. She slept next to our bed for the first 7 months and I just transitioned her last month to her own room and crib. Obviously its not working out to well. I think that maybe there were so many noises in our room, (the dog jumping up and down off the bed, husband snoring) that she is just used to waking up now. I just hope it doesn't last forever.

  3. So I have to admit... I'm not real fond of our current sleeping situation because she sleeps in bed with us and I'm definitely NOT an expert but Mine sleeps through the night and has since about 2-21/2 months. I read and not everyone agrees with this but it works for us that you sleep train them. Basically You get them on a feeding schedule. And I don't know why this works but it did for us. Say she wakes up at 6, I feed her again at 10, 2, 6 and then again right before bed. I usually put 4 hours between each feeding and try to stick to that. What I read was feeding at 8, 12, 4 and 8... but I just stick to the 4 hours thoughts. I also keep her schedule consistent before bed, we shower, eat and then put her down. Now like I said currently she's sleeping in bed with us which really isn't what I want to do but circumstances right now put it that way... that should be changing soon so I might have a bit of an issue and I hope I'm making sense... if not let me know and I'll try again :)

    1. It makes total sense! I wish I could be as organized as you! I never really had Emma on a schedule because I'm not a very scheduley type person but I will definitely have to give it a try if it means she is going to sleep for longer then 3 hours. The 4 hour gap in between feedings might be a little tricky but she is just going to have to get used to it. Thanks :)
