China Walls + Spitting Cave +Beach Action

Mike and I took a drive around the other side of the island today to have lunch at the Kona Brewing Company.
And while we were over there, we stopped at a few spots.
First was China Walls.
I was a little underwhelmed. Of course it is beautiful, but Yelp reviews made is seem like it was the best place ever.
There were a couple people jumping, which was pretty cool
Next we stopped at Spitting Cave.
Now this place was pretty awsome!
 Diamond Head in the distance
and
really really expensive houses get to overlook this view
 Looking at the cave.
People come here to jump into the cave and explore.
Not me!
 Two Monk Seals

 Such a cool place!
Next, we overlooked the Hawaii Kai Harbor as we ate.
And then headed towards home, only to make a quick stop at the beach.
OK, OK,
Now I'm just bragging...
I know I'm lucky I live here but I shouldn't rub it in so much.
Sorry....
Now excuse me while I go cake on some cover up. I had my sunglasses on all day and now I have raccoon eyes.

Kealia Trail

I met my new favorite hiking friend a couple days ago, Michelle...and her pup Jax.
We headed out west to a trail that overlooked Dillingham Airfield.
This trail has a million switchbacks, but with each turn you took, there are amazing views.

We started the trail pretty early to try to dodge the heat....Lets just say that it didn't help much.
It was hot!
Jax was pooped! and we were still about 20-30 minutes away from the top.
We decided that it was enough for him and headed back down.
Definitely don't want a over heated puppy!

I love meeting people that have the same interests as me.
Thanks Michelle for a great day!

Happy 4th!

I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th!
We were lucky enough not to have to drive into Honolulu to see any fireworks.
It is so unbelievably crowded there.
Kailua did not put on a show last year, and this year was also going to be a bust , but a very rich man donated $20,000 to the city to put the show on.
How nice was he?
I wish I just had $20,000 laying around.
So we headed out to the beach to watch the show.

We sat pretty far away from them, but still a good show.
Thank you to all the men and women who have served or are currently serving for the red, white and blue.

Lately....

 Beach Time
Supermoon
Movie Time
(never fails)
First and last time eating at Maui Taco's
 More Beach Time
I have to talk about this a little.
This dogs owner is on one of these boats. They were training for a race, so they would pull to shore and then paddle back out numerous times. The dog sat there and waited just like this each time they left. It doesn't get much more loyal then this.
I swear they look more and more alike each day.
I'm so uncomfortable, but he's too cute to move

China Man's Hat

Can I just say how beautiful the day was today!
We took a quick paddle across the ocean to a little island call, China Man's Hat.
 Hiking up
(can you tell he loves pictures)
 View from the top
 Snorkeled a little
Visibility was horrible, so there was no fish to see.
 Oahu In the distance

On our way home, we stopped at Mike's Huli Huli Chicken.
Does this look familiar to anyone?
(Guy Fieri -The Food Network)
(Adam Richman- Man vs. Food)

Enjoying our chicken while looking back at where we just spent the day.

Nail Files

I cant ever really wear polish on my fingers because of work, so they are neglected and boring.
I try to make up for that with the tootsies.

Makua Cave & Pray for Sets Beach

Ke'ana Point is the northern tip of Oahu.
We decided to explore one of the caves out there.

We were hoping to find maybe some petroglyphs hidden...but no such luck.

On the Islands of Hawaii, there are many sacred areas.

We decided to see how the snorkeling was on this side of the island.
Pleasantly surprised!

We watched about 10 spinner dolphins jump out of the water in the distance...and I have not 1 photo.
This beach was well worth the drive. We will be definitely heading back here soon.
